According to Cnautonews, the traffic control department of the Ministry of Public Security Statistics, at the end of March 2017, car ownership in China amounts to 200 million, which has achieved a historic leap. Wangxia, CCPIT Automotive Industry Committee chairman, predicted that in 2019, China will surpass the United States to become the world's largest country in car ownership. The United States has about 253 million vehicles. The average car age is 3 to 4 years, which means a lot of cars are going to exceed insurance, flowing to repair shops out of 4S stores. Without doubt, auto parts sales, repair and maintenance would be the focus of the automotive aftermarket in the near future.

The Automobile Sales Management Methods, promulgated in the first order of 2017 by the Ministry of Commerce, will come into force on 1 July 2017. There will be several changes to auto parts sales, repair and maintenance services.

L.E.K Consulting reported that as the development of a large Chinese automotive market happens so recently and quickly, chained services and repair stations have not yet been established on a wide scale. Nowadays, although chained repair shops are forecasted to become more and more important over the coming years, 4S stores still hold the largest channel share in China. Under this market condition, the Automotive Aftermarket Forum Shanghai is devoted to bringing top-level professionals from leading brands together to find solutions for China's automotive aftermarket, especially for the repair and maintenance services industry.
